Central West Autism & Special Needs Awareness Group (CWASNAG)

Under the umbrella of Currajong Disability Services, located in Parkes NSW. Deb and Ange (facilitators), along with their group members, are committed to creating AWARENESS of people with special needs, which will create UNDERSTANDING and ultimately bring ACCEPTANCE.

Our group facilitators are Mrs Deb Collier and Mrs Angela Wilson. We meet once a month with our members to talk about the opportunities and services available in our local area to support children with disabilities and their families. We also hold events in the community to provide education on disabilities, creating awareness, understanding and eventually acceptance for those with special needs.

Children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) or other special needs, are impacted on how they make sense of the world. Parents are often the first to notice their children are not behaving the same as other children, or are not reaching developmental milestones.

ASD is a common wide-spectrum developmental disability, meaning that no two people will have exactly the same symptoms. Our main goal is to provide education programmes that will create awareness in our community of the significant communication, social, and behavior challenges for these children.
